Sheriff Paul Rexford is happy to announce the appointment of Mr. Daniel Kunderevych, Esq. as the Constitutional Policing Advisor for the Los Santos County Sheriff's Department. The Constitutional Policing Advisor is an unclassified executive-level position, reporting directly to the Sheriff. The Constitutional Policing Advisor provides advice to executive management on a wide variety of issues which significantly impact Department and County operations. The Constitutional Policing Advisor is tasked with enhancing internal accountability, ensuring the Department is in compliance with constitutional policing, formulating and processing internal procedures and policies, as well as establishing and maintaining effective relationships with the District Attorney's Office.
Mr. Kunderevych comes to the Department from his previous position of Civilian Director of the City of Spokane (WA) Office of Professional Accountability. While serving as Director, Mr. Kunderevych assisted in the analysis and federal prosecution of Officer Karl Thompson in relation to the death of Otto Zehm after an officer involved critical incident. Mr. Kunderevych is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, graduating Maga Cum Laude. He has authored multiple scholarly articles on the relation of law enforcement and their role in due process. Mr. Kunderevych is also an awardee of the David Carliner Public Interest Award.
