The Department regrettably announces that Deputy Henry Watson was killed in the line of duty on May 23rd, 2019. Deputy Watson was assigned to the Special Enforcement Bureau at the time of his passing.
Special Enforcement Bureau deputies responded to an armed vehicle pursuit near 6th Street in East Los Santos. East Los Santos Station patrol deputies were pursuing the subjects for potentially being involved in a shooting. The pursuit terminated in Mulholland and the subjects exited their vehicle. The subjects immediately opened fire on deputies. Deputies returned fire, nearly instantly neutralizing two of the three subjects. One subject was able to flee the area and deputies were unable to pursue.
Special Enforcement Bureau deputies arrived at the scene to assist with the detainment of the two neutralized subjects. While the deputies were attempting to detain the two subjects, the third subject re-emerged and ambushed the deputies. Deputy Watson was struck by gunfire while other deputies returned fire, fatally striking the subject. Deputy Watson was given immediate life-saving medical care and transported to All Saints General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Deputy Watson was a 13-year veteran of the Department whose previous assignments had included patrol at East Los Santos Station, Aero Bureau, and the Special Enforcement Bureau.
